Service Academy Day (Sept. 16th)
Service Academy Day provides eligible students and recent graduates with the opportunity to obtain more information on the application process and speak with representatives from the five U.S. Military Academies: the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
Congressman Rich McCormick invites students to attend Service Academy Day on Saturday, September 16th. High school seniors, as well as high school graduates under the age of 23, who reside within Georgia’s Sixth Congressional District are eligible to apply for a nomination to a service academy through Congressman McCormick’s office.
* Please note: the fifth service academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, does not require a congressional nomination for appointment.

PEACH STATE TOUR-Admissions Information Sessions
Join Augusta University, Georgia State University, Georgia Tech and the University of Georgia this fall (August 29-September 28) for the Peach State Tour!
The Peach State Tour will be offered in a hybrid format: students will have the opportunity to attend information sessions in-person or virtually.

Big 10 College Event- Midtown High School
The “East Meets West (with a stop in Minnesota)” public information session will be in your area on Monday, August 28, 2023 and take place at Midtown High School (formerly Henry W Grady High School) from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. In this session for students, families and counselors, you’ll hear about amazing opportunities and resources as well as learn about our admissions processes and financial programs from the following ten highly selective colleges; Amherst, Bowdoin, California Institute of Technology, Carleton, Claremont McKenna, Pomona, Swarthmore, Tufts, University of Southern California and Williams.
Bring your questions about academic departments, clubs and organizations, campus diversity, affordability or anything else that interests you.

Cornell, Emory, Pomona, Rice, and Washington U in St. Louis Consortium Student Event
Cornell, Emory, Pomona, Rice, and Washington U. in St. Louis are traveling together to bring students an informational admissions session in Alpharetta, GA. Other than Emory, these schools do not usually schedule info sessions at individual high schools. If you want to know more about these schools, you should attend this session.

Coalition for College Information Sessions - Coalition is a group of colleges and universities that share a common application platform just like the Common App. Some institutions participate in both Coalition and Common App. They are offering information sessions throughout the summer with advice on the process for applying to college. https://www.coalitionforcollegeaccess.org/events
These Coalition information sessions with advice on how to apply for college are free, but according to the Coalition website: "Coalition schools may be in touch with you based on information you share here."

Princeton Review Summer College Planning, Essay Writing, and Test Prep
Summer is a good time for seniors to start writing their college essays. Princeton Review offers classes on college admissions counseling, essay writing and test prep for a fee. There are some discounts for being an IA student. They are also offering some free events this summer. Visit our Test Prep Page for more information.

Smith College's Women of Distinction Offers a Fully Funded Fly-In Campus Visit
Applications are now open for Women of Distinction, Smith College's overnight, fully funded fly-in program. Intended for high school seniors, this annual event will highlight opportunities offered by Smith College for African American, Asian American, Latin American, Native American, and first generation college students. Housing, meals, and transportation to and from campus are included.
They are offering two rounds of Women of Distinction:
October 13 - 14: Application deadline is June 30
November 10 - 11: Application deadline is September 15

Voices of Tufts Diversity Experience
If you want to be nominated for Tufts paid for fly-in experience, please notify your counselor by June 1st.
We write to remind you that Tufts Admissions is still accepting nominations for the fall 2023 Voices of Tufts Diversity Experience. Voices is our signature fly-in program, and we encourage you to nominate any students who you feel would be a good fit for Tufts. This year's program will take place in October, and there is no cost for students to attend.
You are welcome to nominate any rising senior who attends high school in the U.S. While Voices has traditionally attracted participants from underrepresented backgrounds – including but not limited to students of color, first generation college-bound students, LGBTQIA+ students, students from low-income backgrounds, students with disabilities, and students from rural communities – any student interested in learning about diversity on the Tufts campus is welcome to apply. We seek primarily to invite students who are kind, collaborative, civically-engaged, and interested in creating a more inclusive world.
